Summer Food Service Program
It can be a challenge to provide a healthy lunch to low-income children for just $3.18, but the Summer Food Service Program in Columbia County does just that. Supported by the Council, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, donors and volunteers, the program ensures close to 150 nutritious meals each day when school is not in session.
The four-year-old program, run by Columbia/Montour Tapestry of Health, serves children in Bloomsburg and Benton, and plans to add a third site in 2010.
