A two-phase research project, through the Central Pennsylvania Center of Excellence for Research on Pregnancy Outcomes, designed to reduce the incidence of preterm and low birthweight babies by improving the health of high-risk women.

Funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health with non-formula tobacco settlement funds, this collaborative four-year project partners four organizations in central Pennsylvania – The Pennsylvania State University, the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania, Franklin and Marshall College, and Lock Haven University.

This program is in its second phase, a randomized trial program designed to help women who may have a future pregnancy improve their health status and health habits.
