About the Council
The Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health, preventing disease, and promoting wellness.
Founded in 1973, the Council oversees and supports a diverse, 28-county network of organizations providing a range of vital services and care to thousands of women, men, children and adolescents each year. Services include women’s health care, cancer screening and education, tobacco prevention and cessation, nutrition advice and healthy foods, and HIV/AIDS support services.
The Council provides direct services in select midstate communities. Twenty Council-owned
Tapestry of Health sites offer a range of health-related care and nutrition services in their communities.
Through partnerships, education, advocacy and effective resource allocation, the Council builds and supports the community-based networks that provide these important services.
